Ask your provision anything. Get the answer from the record.
Talk to Journey reads your own connected learner record, answers the question a director would ask, and lists the records it read. No dashboards to decode, no exports to reconcile.
Most apprenticeship software gives you screens. Talk to Journey gives you answers with evidence, inside the signed-in app, scoped to your provider.
Question, sources, answer. In that order.
Talk to Journey is built so a leadership team can trust what it reads without trusting the AI blindly.
A plain question, in your words
“Which learners are due for gateway in the next 60 days without all employer reviews completed?” No query language, no filters to build.
The record is read, and the reading is shown
Journey lists every record set it reads, with counts, timestamps and the record version, before it answers.
A number, a sentence, a table, a source list
The answer opens to the learners or records behind it. Nothing is asserted that the record cannot show.
Every answer keeps its evidence.
The evidence trail is part of the answer, not an audit you run afterwards.
Each answer records the cohort filter it applied, the record sets it read, the rule it used and the record version it read from. The trail is stored with the answer, so a question asked before a board meeting can be re-opened a month later and checked against what the record said at the time.
What leadership teams ask most
- Delivery. Registrations behind plan, reviews overdue, off-the-job hours behind plan by cohort, tutor or employer.
- Funding. Records that would fail the next ILR return, prices outside the agreed band, learners with no ILR activity in 30 days.
- Quality. Overdue actions and their owners, sampling coverage by tutor, observations without follow-up.
- Gateway. Learners approaching gateway with a readiness item outstanding, packs awaiting approval, results awaited from the assessment organisation.
Talk to Journey is available with Journey Advanced. AI included. Answers cite records; consequential actions stay with a named person. Journey is independent software and does not make funding, gateway, EPA or learner-status decisions.
What each role asks, and what comes back.
The same record answers different questions for different people. These are real question shapes from provider leadership teams, with synthetic answers.
| Role | A question they ask | What Journey reads | What comes back |
|---|---|---|---|
| Managing director | Which employers have more than two learners behind plan on off-the-job hours? | Off-the-job log, programme plans, employer records | A list of employers with the learners and the hours gap, and the reviews that were missed |
| Head of delivery | Which reviews are overdue this month and who owns them? | Progress reviews, tutor caseloads | Learners, due dates, tutor, employer sign-off status |
| Finance and MIS lead | Which records would fail R01 if we submitted today? | Funding records, ILR draft, funding rules pack for each start date | Records with the failing field and the rule it fails |
| Quality lead | Which tutors have not been sampled this term? | Sampling plan, observations, actions | Tutors, last sample date, open actions |
| Gateway coordinator | Who is approaching gateway with an item outstanding? | Gateway readiness, portfolio coverage, English and maths, employer confirmation | Learners, planned gateway date, the item outstanding and who owns it |
| Safeguarding lead | Which learners have an open welfare action older than 14 days? | Safeguarding and wellbeing records (restricted role) | Only what the role is permitted to see, with the owner and age of each action |
What Talk to Journey will not do.
The limits are the product. Each one is enforced in the system, not in a policy document.
It cannot change a record
Answers are read-only. Changing a learner status, a funding record or a gateway decision is a named person's action, recorded in the audit trail.
It reads your tenant only
Answers come from your provider's own records, scoped to your tenant. It does not read other providers' data or the internet.
Every answer shows its sources
The record sets, counts, timestamps and record version are listed before the answer. The trail is stored with the answer.
It sees what you see
Talk to Journey inherits the role and site scope of the person asking. A tutor cannot ask it about another tutor's caseload.
AI is included and metered
Included with Journey Advanced within fair use, metered per provider and reported. Journey warns before any threshold.
Inside the signed-in app only
There is no chat box on this website. The demonstration above runs on controlled synthetic data.
Twenty minutes, four questions, one record.
How a director prepares with Talk to Journey rather than with a pack of exports.
- Delivery. "Which cohorts are more than 10% behind plan on off-the-job hours?" The answer names the cohorts, the learners driving the gap and the reviews that were missed. The director opens two learners to check the entries.
- Funding. "What is our exposure on the next ILR return?" The answer lists records that would fail validation, grouped by the rule they fail, with the funding lead's name against each one.
- Quality. "Which actions raised in the last sample are overdue?" The answer lists actions, owners and due dates, and links each to the observation it came from.
- Gateway. "Who reaches gateway in the next 60 days with an item outstanding?" The answer lists learners, the item and its owner. The pack for the ones that are ready is one click from Meritura.
Each answer is stored with its evidence trail, so the same four questions can be re-opened a month later and checked against what the record said at the time. See the worked example in the AI in apprenticeship software explainer.
About Talk to Journey.
What can I ask Talk to Journey?
Anything the record can answer: which learners are due for gateway without a signed employer review, how far a cohort is behind plan on off-the-job hours, which funding records would fail the next ILR return, which actions are overdue and who owns them. Questions are scoped to your provider and answered from your own learner records.
Where do the answers come from?
From your connected learner record only. Talk to Journey reads the records that are relevant to the question, lists them with timestamps and a record version, and answers from those. It does not use the open internet or another provider's data.
Can Talk to Journey change anything?
No. It answers and shows its sources. Consequential actions such as changing a learner status, a funding record or a gateway decision stay with a named person in the app, with the audit trail recording who did it and when.
Is there a public chat box on the website?
No. Talk to Journey lives inside the signed-in app and is scoped to your provider's data. The demonstration on this page uses controlled synthetic data.
Which edition includes it?
Journey Advanced, with AI included. Journey Core is the connected record without AI features and is free forever for verified UK providers with up to 50 counted apprentices subject to application review.
